Trezor Start — Official Onboarding

A fresh, secure way to set up your Trezor hardware wallet — clear steps, verified resources, and safety-first guidance.

Quick Start — Secure Setup Flow

This guide helps you perform the official, secure setup for your Trezor device. Follow each step on the physical device and never share your recovery phrase online.

  1. Unbox & Inspect: Verify the tamper-evident packaging. If packaging is damaged, contact the vendor and do not use the device.
  2. Download Official Software: Always use trezor.io or suite.trezor.io for downloads.
  3. Initialize Device: Connect your Trezor, choose Create new or Recover, and set a strong PIN on the device.
  4. Record Recovery Seed Offline: Write the seed on paper/metal. Never take photos or store it digitally.
  5. Verify Firmware & Update: Use the Suite to confirm official firmware signatures and update if needed.
  6. Test a Small Transaction: Send a tiny amount to confirm the wallet flow end-to-end before larger transfers.
PIN Protection
On-device PIN prevents keyloggers from stealing access.
Passphrase
Optional extra layer — treat it as an extension to your seed.
Firmware Signing
Only official firmware should be installed.
Offline Seed
Seed never entered on a website.
